This study aimed at finding out the
social condition, kinds of social problem, and the way the author criticizes
the social problems of England in the beginning of 20th century in Pygmalion (1912). This study applied the
descriptive method and used genetic
structuralism approach to analyze the social problems of England and related it
to the drama. The source of data was the Pygmalion
drama and the social condition of England in the beginning of 20th century. The
data were collected by; 1) Read the Pygmalion
drama, 2) Read the social conditions of England in the beginning of the
20th century, and 3) Read the biography of the author. This study found several
social problems of England in the beginning of 20th century in Pygmalion : poverty, education problem,
gender inequality, and social class gap. The writer also found the way the author
criticizes the social problems of England in Pygmalion in the beginning of 20th century.
